With feature articles on the gospel and Jewish people, up-to-date reports on the work of our missionaries and thought-provoking comment, our magazine the Herald is sent to thousands of readers world-wide every three months. EVANGELISTIC LITERATURE FOR LOCAL CHURCHES CWI is committed to
working with local churches and to producing quality evangelistic
literature. We have the facilities to produce personalised literature
for local churches involved in outreach to Jewish people. Do you know the difference between Tallith and Tephillin? Talmud and Tanakh? Pesach and Purim? How many commandments do the rabbis teach that a Jew must keep? What would you do with a mezuzah? Drive it, wear it or nail it to your doorpost? How can you witness sensitively and effectively to your Jewish friends and acquaintances? A Jewish Awareness Weekend will help your church understand the colourful world of Jewish life, culture and religion and equip your members to tell Jews about Jesus. From the Jewish cuisine to the in-depth teaching; from the Passover Demonstration to the Question and Answer session, a CWI Jewish Awareness Weekend will inform and challenge. Some of the most recent New Testament scholarship is showing that the Exodus and Passover are the framework for our understanding of the work of Christ. The Passover is full of significance for Christians, not least as an aid to understanding the Lord's Supper. To enable you to be a prayer partner we provide a Prayer Tape and Missionary Newsletters. PREACHING
AND TEACHING SUMMER SCHOOL: Jews Judaism & Jewish Evangelism Ten days of teaching and practical experience and an ideal opportunity to learn first-hand about Jewish life, culture and religion, and to gain experience of evangelism in the heart of London's Jewish community. The next Summer School will be held in 2007. A number of speakers will provide insights into Jewish life, thought, culture and religion. Jewish attitudes to Jesus and the most frequent objections to the gospel will be examined. Kosher food and visits to cultural sites and a synagogue are among the highlights of the event. During the second half of the Summer School students apply the principles they have learned in door-to-door evangelism or street witness (optional). Most Christians acknowledge that their Saviour was a Jew and that the earliest followers of Jesus were Jewish. All the biblical writers, with the possible exception of Luke, were Jewish and most of the Bible is addressed to the Jewish people. In spite of that, many Christians have forgotten that the Jewish people still need to be saved. Those who do have a concern for the salvation of Israel often feel personally inadequate to witness to Jewish friends and acquaintances, because their knowledge of the Old Testament is less than perfect. Telling Jews about
Jesus by CWI missionary Paul Morris, is a readable introduction to
Jewish history, culture and religion as well as a plain guide to
sensitive and effective witness. Nothing else is available in this
country that covers so much, so comprehensively. Telling Jews about
Jesus is published by Grace Publications and is available from the CWI
Bookroom at £6.95 excluding postage and
packing. |
